Hassan Azari, MSc, PhD, received his master’s in Anatomy in 2001 from Tarbiat Modarres University, Tehran, Iran and his doctorate degree in 2007 from the Medical University of Isfahan, Isfahan, Iran. He did his PhD thesis work at the Queensland Brain Institute of the University Queensland, Australia, where he was working on developing a new technology for enrichment of neuronal progenitors from adult neural stem cells. He started his career as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2007. He joined Dr. Brent Reynolds lab as a postdoctoral associate in 2009.
Dr. Azari’s research focuses on development of new technologies for purification and enrichment of defined cell populations from renewable source of stem cells. The goal of his studies is to devise efficient cell therapeutic approaches for neurological diseases such as stroke and spinal cord injuries. He is also interested in cancer stem cells biology.
